GoDaddy Inc., the world's largest technology provider dedicated to small businesses, is leaving NASCAR and driver Danica Patrick at the end of the 2015 season
While GoDaddy is not renewing its primary sponsorship of the No. 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team of Stewart-Haas Racing and Patrick, the company is negotiating to keep Patrick as a GoDaddy spokeswoman under a personal services agreement.
"We love Danica and all she does to empower and inspire people, especially women, which is why we are working to keep her in the GoDaddy family," said GoDaddy Chief Marketing Officer Phil Bienert. "We have the utmost respect for Stewart-Haas Racing, and they've been phenomenal partners. In fact, NASCAR has been a tremendous domestic platform to help us achieve an 81 percent aided brand awareness domestically, but at this stage, we need a range of marketing assets that reach a more globally-diverse set of customers. The fact Danica is having a record-setting season makes it tough to leave this motorsports sponsorship, without a doubt."
2015 is proving to be Patrick's best Sprint Cup Series to date. She now holds the record for most top-10 finishes by a woman in NASCAR's top series, with six including a seventh place finish at Martinsville (VA.) Speedway and a ninth place finish at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway earlier this season.
"GoDaddy has been an incredible partner for a very long time, almost nine years, and as I've said before, our brands have really grown up together," Patrick said. "It's pretty cool, from a marketing perspective, that we helped GoDaddy build such strong brand awareness here in the U.S. I'm excited to work with GoDaddy on a personal level moving forward, but will miss having their bright green color on my racecar next year."
"GoDaddy has been a great partner for us and for the sport overall," said Tony Stewart, SHR co-owner and teammate to Patrick. "There's a lot of season left on the calendar and it would be great to go out with a win ... that would really put the exclamation point on what has been a hugely successful relationship."

I'll bet that she already has a sponsor lined up and will stay in the 10 car for SHR.
I might find it hard to get a taker on this bet.

Danica close to new deal with Stewart-Haas Racing]
Lee Spencer Motorsport 7/27/15
For those who have speculated the GoDaddy Girl may be going somewhere else, think again.
Stewart-Haas Racing team owner Gene Haas told Motorsport.com on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway that he’d like to get Danica Patrick’s deal signed “as soon as possible” -- and he expects to do just that.
“We expect her to stay with Stewart-Haas Racing,” Haas told Motorsport.com. “We have some very good sponsors that are in the process of signing up. But we knew that. We knew going in that there’s just a lot of demand for her. Let’s face it, she’s the only woman on the whole grid so she’s going to get a lot of press, and that’s what sponsors want to see.
“We told her we wanted her to come back. She’s been very flexible about everything. It all has to happen at the same time. You can’t really sign a driver until you have a sponsor. You have to know how much money you’re going to get from the sponsor and that kind of translates into the deal you make with the driver. I think it’s all going good.”
Patrick, 33, is in her third full-time season in the Sprint Cup Series. Certainly, her highlight is winning the pole for the 2013 Daytona 500, but she also has posted six top-10 finishes, most ever in the series by a female driver. Each season the driver of the No. 10 Chevy has improved her average finish. In 2015, Patrick has completed 99 percent of all laps raced. Her best finish was seventh at Martinsville.
“Every year she gets a little better,” Haas said. “She’s better this year than she was last year. So I think she’s kind of improving. Statistically, we see that.
“Danica is a special person, too, because she has so much demand for her image, and we like that. We really like that. That’s a good balance. Even if her performance is taking longer than we’d like, she has so much consumer demand that it balances it out really well.”
With Patrick attracting a variety of sponsors, Haas says the hold-up in an announcement is simply dotting i’s and crossing t’s. In April, Patrick's primary backer GoDaddy acknowledged it would not return to NASCAR in 2016. There has been speculation that categories from the mortgage and restaurant industry could be among the liveries gracing the hood of the No. 10 Chevy next year.
“Personally, I think that’s all just a balance between — we’re probably going to have more than one sponsor and we’re going to have to get them all aligned. We have to work GoDaddy. It’s just a balancing act. Obviously, we’d like to get it done as quickly as possible. I’m sure that, when all the contracts are signed, it will happen within a few weeks.”

Stewart-Haas spokesman updates Danica's sponsor, contract situation
Jared Turner FOX Sports JUL 28, 2015
Since it was announced in late April that longtime Danica Patrick primary sponsor GoDaddy wouldn't return to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2016, the status of the organization's search for a replacement sponsor has been mostly quiet.
Patrick, who was already in a contract year with SHR before GoDaddy made its intentions known, has said she hoped to be back in her familiar No. 10 Chevy next year, although nothing has been assured.
On Tuesday, SHR spokesman Mike Arning said in an email to FOXSports.com that the organization is moving toward re-signing Patrick and securing a new primary sponsor for her car in the 2016 season.
Patrick, who joined SHR as a Sprint Cup Series rookie in 2013, is one of four drivers on SHR's current roster that also consists of team co-owner Tony Stewart, reigning Sprint Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch.
"Re-signing Danica Patrick remains a priority for Stewart-Haas Racing, and we're confident an agreement will be formalized soon," Arning wrote in his email to FOXSports.com. "Discussions regarding sponsorship for Danica and the No. 10 team are progressing nicely. Our timetable to have her contract and sponsorship in place by the end of the summer is certainly attainable."
In a little more than two-and-a-half seasons with Stewart-Haas, Patrick has six top-10 finishes, including a career-best finish of sixth recorded at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Aug. 31, 2014.

Nature's Bakery Begins NASCAR Journey with Danica Patrick and Stewart-Haas Racing
SHR News Release 8/18/15
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Nature’s Bakery, a rapidly-growing snacks and food brand headquartered in Reno, Nevada, has joined Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) to become the primary sponsor of driver Danica Patrick and the No. 10 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series beginning with the 2016 season.
The multiyear sponsorship agreement will see Nature’s Bakery and its signature tagline, “Energy for Life’s Great Journeys”, adorn Patrick’s No. 10 Chevrolet SS for 28 races a year.
Nature’s Bakery was founded in 2010 by the father-and-son duo of Dave and Sam Marson with a mission of making delicious, convenient, on-the-go snacks that complement health-conscious living and active, everyday lifestyles
Patrick is motorsports’ most recognizable athlete and the most marketable personality in NASCAR according to Repucom’s 2015 Davie Brown Index. Her success on the racetrack, which includes an IndyCar Series victory and a Daytona 500 pole, transcends her into the mainstream, proven by a 2014 Harris Poll which named Patrick the second-most recognized female athlete in the United States, behind only tennis star Serena Williams.
“Danica has proven she belongs in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and we’re very happy to have her a part of our team for years to come,” said Tony Stewart, co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing with Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation, the largest CNC machine tool builder in North America. “Nature’s Bakery is a natural fit with Danica. She has played an important role in the growth of all the businesses associated with her and our growth as a race team. Our partnership with Nature’s Bakery is all about growing their business. In Danica, we have the best possible person to help Nature’s Bakery achieve its goals.”

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – A striking new blue was revealed Tuesday as the paint scheme for Danica Patrick’s No. 10 Chevrolet in 28 Sprint Cup races next year. What colors will the car have for the remainder of the 2016 season? Likely some comfortably familiar shades. Stewart-Haas Racing executive vice president Brett Frood said Tuesday the team is working to fill the eight-race gap on Patrick’s car next season with the same companies that have shared space on the hood with GoDaddy the past two seasons. Nature’s Bakery was announced as Patrick’s new primary sponsor in a multiyear deal starting in 2016. “We’re working through the final solutions on that, and hopefully we’ll have some upcoming announcements,” Frood said. “Those current partners, it’s worked well, so we hope to continue that. GoDaddy, which announced in May that it wouldn’t be renewing its primary sponsorship after this season, funded all of Patrick’s races during her 2013 rookie season in Sprint Cup but had sold off a handful the past two years to Aspen Dental and TaxAct. Frood indicated that both companies could return next year, possibly in slightly larger roles. TaxAct already had increased its investment this season, buying the hood for Patrick’s race at Texas after she finished seventh in the company’s car the previous week at Martinsville Speedway. “For us, it’s just figuring out partners that make sense where we can help elevate their business and at the same time make sure we can be as competitive as possible and have the resources to continue going fast,” Frood said. The new deal with Nature’s Bakery grew out of the burgeoning company’s business with Haas Automation, which was founded by SHR co-owner Gene Haas. Nature’s Bakery buys machinery from Haas, which helped sparked discussions about the NASCAR sponsorship. Though the NASCAR sponsorship was completed independently of the Haas products, Frood said the deal wouldn’t have happened without the business connection. “The fact they have Haas machines building their bakery equipment was unique,” he said. “It helped they were NASCAR fans and knew the personalities and had some experience of watching Danica and her marketing power and Stewart-Haas from a performance standpoint, but ultimately it came down to a relationship with their local Haas liaison that started the conversation.” Nature’s Bakery was founded in 2010 and is relatively small compared to the Fortune 500 companies that adorn most cars in NASCAR’s premier series. The annual revenues for the Reno, Nev.-based company have been estimated at $100 million annually – a fraction of the annual billion-dollar sales of sponsors such as GoDaddy. “You can look at the size of our company and say we’re the up‑and‑coming guy who is going to be the next Fortune 500 company, and that’s what we plan on being,” said Dave Marson, who founded the company with his son, Sam. “We’re taking and leveraging this opportunity with NASCAR, the NASCAR fan base, to look at our products and to grow and become one of those Fortune 500 companies. “We thank Stewart‑Haas Racing and Danica for believing us. We came to them with an idea and a dream. We said, ‘We are the new up‑and‑coming company. Look at us and we’ll show you what we can do.’ They believed in us.” Frood said Nature’s Bakery might seem “small from a revenue standpoint, but they are looking to be a big player. We hope to bring them into retailers across the United States.” nascartalk.nbcsports.com/2015/08/18/familiar-names-expected-to-complete-danica-patricks-sponsorship-slate/

Danica Patrick's image, not results, keeping her valuable in NASCAR
Ray Slover Sporting News 8/19/15
Danica Patrick is one of the three most important drivers in NASCAR. And that has nothing to do with her underwhelming performance on the track.
Because of her impact on stock-car racing, Patrick has new sponsorship and a renewed importance in the sport.
Patrick's role at Stewart-Haas Racing is in line with, say, Kurt Busch. Her performance is in line with, say, AJ Allmendinger or Austin Dillon.
Patrick is 21st in standings, with no top-five finishes and two top-10s. She drives for the same team as Busch and points leader Kevin Harvick, Stewart-Haas Racing.
Allmendinger, 22nd in points, has three top-10s.
Dillon, 20th in points, has one top-five and four top-10s.
So why is Patrick getting a new sponsor with a multi-year deal? Because she is Danica Patrick, the only female full-time Cup driver. She is a marketable asset. She is in no danger of losing her ride with Stewart-Haas with her fat new sponsorship.
Dillon is a rising driver for his grandfather's team. His car carries the number of legendary driver Dale Earnhardt, who was the sport's most popular driver under Richard Childress Racing.
Allmendinger drives for a small-time operation but received a five-year contract extension earlier this year. Casual fans don't come to the track to see 'Dinger.
Through no fault of his own, Clint Bowyer will lose his ride at season's end. Bowyer, a Cup runner-up in 2012, had one year remaining on his contract but Michael Waltrip Racing is closing down its Cup operations after this season and announced Wednesday that it is releasing Bowyer from his contract. He is 15th in Cup standings.
Does Patrick deserve a ride in NASCAR's biggest show while Bowyer must scramble for a seat?
In terms of popularity, Patrick rivals Dale Earnhardt Jr. In terms of success, there's no comparison.
Here's what will be interesting to watch: How will new sponsor Nature's Bakery market Patrick? We're betting her spots won't be nearly as salacious as those of GoDaddy. Expect to see Danica the Wholesome rather than Danica the Tart.
Nature's Bakery is tossing a huge slice of its advertising bread at Patrick because it needs exposure, a face to expand its brand. Danica is a face that sells.
While other drivers have trouble finding sponsors, Danica has no such problem.
Still, her average start is 26th and average finish is 24th.
"We all know what the value of Danica's brand is," Tony Stewart, SHR co-owner, told media members. "[But] watching her from her IndyCar days, I realized how big a talent she is more than a marketing tool. To have her as one of the drivers at Stewart-Haas Racing, we're proud of her. We're proud of her progress. We're proud of what she does behind the racecar. She's probably the most detail-oriented racecar driver I've ever worked with as far as her feedback, attention to detail, describing what the car does, the feel she has in the car. She's much better at it than I am.
"I think she's a great asset to this organization," he added. "I look at it more from the racing side than the marketing side, personally."
Truth is, Patrick's best results are not from the racing side.

I really don't think she is bad for Nascar. But I do wish the person representing us women could win a race once in a while.
