This may be old news to some of you. As part of the rebuilding of Kansas speedway, a casino has been built overlooking turn two. Lesa France Kennedy, Chief Executive of International Speedway Corporation, has entered into a partnership with Penn National Gaming to bring casinos and other entertainment to Nascar venues. They have plans to "upgrade" other tracks in the future. The way the present generation of the France family operates, it makes one wonder how long it will be before they start taking bets on the races. Sportsbook wagering is nothing new, but when a sports sanctioning body has ties to gambling it creates an appearance of impropriety that can't be ignored. I know they are just trying to "grow the sport", but eventually there comes a point where growth stops. Being partnered with a gaming body may be that point if people feel that races are being "influenced". Nascar has a big enough problem with that already. This move could be seen as something that is "detrimental to the sport". (A phrase Brian France likes to use.) My advise to the France family would be to get out of this partnership while your sport and your credibility are still intact.

Not a good partnership, that is for sure.

I read Yogi's post and not having heard of this Kansas Casino I Binged it and found this article that was obviously written on behalf of the raceway and International Speedway Corp. however is pretty informative. xfinity.comcast.net/articles/sports-motorsports/20120206/Kansas.Speedway/I believe there is a casino at the Monster Mile in Dover DE that is run by an Indian tribe. I have heard on no problems with that. From a business standpoint it makes a lot of sense what International Speedway is doing. Their tracks are on expensive sites that already have ample parking and a support staff so adding a 365 day a year operation seems smart. The concern about an arm of the NASCAR sanctioning body being in a gambling business on their privately owned tracks is certainly not to be ignored either. I would be willing to make a bet that the partnerships work out with little or no serious problems for NASCAR.

I guess the partnership would need to be difined. It cannot enter into the gambling side.

Well if they are putting up casinos at the tracks it would make sense to also put up some mega hotels which would benefit people going to races. That would be a good thing.

Yeah, but entering into agreements with casinos is still a slippery slope for any sport. Myles I can see your concern but perhaps if it is done properly it may not become a problem. For example in Las Vegas they have those desks where you can bet on sporting events. However in the New Jersey casinos they do not allow that type of betting. So if the casinos at the tracks do not allow sports betting it may eleminate a conflict. Also I think the individual states will have different rules and regulations.

Unless the state already allows casino gambling it is really a dead issue. Would take years to put it through the legislatures. Florida is going through that fight now and they are only considering certain cities. Though FL has had Indian reservation casinos for years.

The potential problem is that by being partnered with a gaming entity, Nascar could now have a stake in the outcome of any race. Penn National could also profit by people betting at any casino that they have an interest in, not just the one in Kansas. Outside of that I don't see a problem.

Kansas does not allow sports betting. Its a win win situation for NASCAR and the track which has virtually nothing going on at it except for the two weekends that NASCAR is there. The only other thing going on at the track is the Petty Driving or Ride Along thing, and the IRL/Nationwide weekend, and a few other small races that bring no one into the stands except for the familes and friends of the local drivers, they all drive at other tracks in the area most of the year. This allows the track to still make some money along with NASCAR. They already have a huge hotel right by the track, along with a few small ones, and lots of restaurants and the area is still getting more and more around it as the years go by. The area has lots of room to grow still for all kinds of things all around it. These casinos bring in millions in profits annually, why not get in on that action, especially in these times where sponsorship and money are so hard to come by.

Delaware to offer sports betting now that ban is lifted- May 2018
David Purdum ESPN 5/31/18
Delaware will begin offering Las Vegas-style sports betting at its three casinos on Tuesday, becoming the first state to open for business since the United States Supreme Court struck down the federal ban on state-sponsored sports gambling three weeks ago.
Delaware Park, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino and Harrington Raceway & Casino will begin taking single-game bets on baseball, football, hockey, basketball, soccer, golf and auto racing at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the state announced Thursday.
Delaware has offered parlay wagers on the NFL through the state lottery since 2009, requiring bettors to make at least three picks per wager. Roughly $46 million was bet legally on the NFL in Delaware in 2017.
On May 14, the Supreme Court ruled that the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA), the federal prohibition on state-sponsored sports betting, was unconstitutional, opening up a path for states interested in legalizing sports betting to do so.
Delaware was one of a handful of states that received an exemption from PASPA, but was restricted to parlay wagers on only professional football. Starting Tuesday, single-game wagers will be allowed on anything except games involving Delaware-based teams.
The Delaware Department of Finance and the state attorney general's office determined that the state could move forward with a full sports betting menu under existing law.
"Delaware has all necessary legal and regulatory authority to move forward with a full-scale sports gaming operation, and we look forward to next week's launch," Delaware Gov. John Carney said in a release. "We're hopeful that this will bring even more visitors into Delaware to see firsthand what our state has to offer."
New Jersey, which battled the NCAA, NFL and other major professional sports leagues in court for six years, is also hoping to begin offering sports betting in June. A sports betting bill is advancing in the legislature and headed for a vote on June 7.
Mississippi, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are among the states quickly preparing to get into the sports betting game.

Delaware to launch sports gaming on June 5, 2018 will include NASCAR
Dustin Long NBC Sports May 31, 2018
The Delaware Governor’s office announced Thursday that the state will offer full-scale sports gaming at all three of its casinos — including Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, located next to Dover International Speedway — beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET on June 5.
It will make Delaware the first state to offer sports gaming — outside Nevada — since the Supreme Court struck down a 1992 federal law that banned commercial sports betting across the county on May 14.
In a press release Thursday from the Delaware Governor’s office, it stated: “The Delaware Department of Finance, in consultation with the Attorney General’s Office, has determined that there are no legal obstacles to moving forward with full-scale sports betting in Delaware following the U.S. Supreme Court decision on May 14 to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. Under state law passed in 2009, Delaware may authorize betting on professional and collegiate sports, with the exception of games involving Delaware-based teams.”
The press release quoted Delaware Gov. John Carney as saying: “Delaware has all necessary legal and regulatory authority to move forward with a full-scale sports gaming operation, and we look forward to next week’s launch. We’re hopeful that this will bring even more visitors into Delaware to see firsthand what our state has to offer.”
The Delaware Lottery has published an online guide of how to make bets with SportsPick, the state’s sports gaming product. As of now, all bets must be made on casino property.
In the auto racing section, the guide stated that typically 20-30 drivers will be listed along with a field entry. Besides picking the race winner, the guide noted proposition wages such as head-to-head driver matchups. The guide pitted Jimmie Johnson vs. Kyle Busch in its example. The driver with the best finish wins the matchup. The guide also stated that other prop bets may also include over/under on the number of cautions in the race or which car manufacturer wins.
Also, auto racing odds are expected to be posted late Monday/Tuesday. Head-to-head matchups are expected to be posted the day before the race (after qualifying).
The first Cup race that will be available to make bets on is the June 10 race at Michigan International Speedway.

NASCAR Wagering Explained
DOVER, Del. (June 8, 2018) - Dover International Speedway fans can now put more than cheers behind their favorite NASCAR drivers as auto racing is a key part of the full sports betting offerings available at neighboring company Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.
At Dover Downs Hotel & Casino's Race & Sports Book, gamblers can place wagers on a wide variety of sports, including auto racing, baseball, basketball, boxing/MMA, football, hockey and soccer. Delaware Gov. John Carney made the first official wager on Tuesday, a winning $10 bet on the Philadelphia Phillies to defeat the Chicago Cubs in Tuesday night's game. The Phillies won 6-1.
There are multiple ways to bet on all Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series events, including winner-of-the-race plays, proposition wagers and futures wagering.
For example, drivers are listed with odds to win the race next to them such as: • Kyle Busch 6-1 • Kevin Harvick 8-1 • Jimmie Johnson 10-1
Typically, 27 drivers are listed individually, along with a "field" (all others) option. In the above example, if you wager $10 on Kevin Harvick and he wins the race, you win $80 plus your $10 back, totaling $90. Early-week odds are adjusted after late-week practice and qualifying sessions.
Futures wagering, such as bets on who will be the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion, are listed similar to regular race odds. Drivers are listed such as: • Kevin Harvick 3-1 • Kyle Busch 4-1 • Martin Truex Jr. 5-1
Proposition wager are also available following each week's practice and qualifying sessions, pitting two drivers against each other in a head-to-head wager. The driver with the better finish in the race wins the match-up. Drivers are listed such as: • Jimmie Johnson -130 • Kyle Busch +110
In the above example, a wager on Jimmie Johnson for $13 wins $10, returning $23. Wagering $10 on Kyle Busch pays $11, plus your $10 back for a total of $21.
In addition, wagering on NASCAR Stage winners will be available for Dover International Speedway races.
NASCAR Xfinity Series lines are also offered. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series lines will be available when the series returns to Dover International Speedway in May 2019.
Betting lines are supplied by William Hill, the Delaware Lottery's vendor for sports betting. Dover Downs Hotel & Casino is an agent of the Delaware Lottery.
"Sports betting, literally trackside, is a great addition to the excitement that is already being generated during our race weekends," said Mike Tatoian, Dover International Speedway's president and CEO. "Our fans over the age of 21 can enjoy wagering on their favorite driver when they are here during the NASCAR playoff run this fall."
Dover International Speedway's next NASCAR tripleheader weekend on Oct. 5-7 includes the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race on Friday, Oct. 5, the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoff race on Saturday, Oct. 6, and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoff race on Sunday, Oct. 7. The Monster Mile will be the first NASCAR track where fans will be able to wager on races when they arrive at the facility.
For tickets or more information, call 800‐441‐RACE or visit DoverSpeedway.com. You can also keep up with the Monster Mile at Facebook.com/DoverInternationalSpeedway, or on Twitter and Instagram at @monstermile.

These drugs are often prescribed for acute pain that stems from traumatic injury, such as surgery or a broken bone. Opioids currently cause the most prescription drug-related overdose deaths in the United States — and that rate is still rising. Because the risks are so great, opioids are used at the lowest dose possible, usually for just a few days. Brand names. Hydrocodone (Hysingla ER, Zohydro ER); hydrocodone-acetaminophen (Norco, Zyfrel, others); fentanyl (Actiq, Duragesic, Fentora), oxycodone (OxyContin, Roxicodone, others); oxycodone-acetaminophen (Percocet, Roxicet, others); others How they work. Opioids, just like real opium, mimic the natural pain-relieving chemicals — called endorphins — produced by your brain. These drugs "turn down the volume" on the pain signals your nervous system sends through your body. They also muffle other nerve cell functions, such as your breathing, heart rate and level of alertness. Bottom line. Opioids are a last resort for chronic pain management. They may be the right choice for long-term pain related to cancer and its treatments or, in rare cases, noncancer pain that hasn't responded to any other medications. Because the risks are so serious, you'll need careful and frequent follow-ups with your doctor if you use opioids long term. While there isn't a cure for chronic pain, many effective pain medications are available to help you function effectively and enjoy your days. As you try different drugs, alone or in combination, work with your doctor to target the simplest long-term solution possible. Keep your medication risks to a minimum to improve your odds of many good days, for many years to come.

The occurrence of pain rises as people get older, and women are more likely to experience pain than men. A pain management specialist is a doctor who evaluates your pain and treats a wide range of pain problems. A pain management doctor treats sudden pain problems such as headaches and many types of long-lasting, chronic, pain such as low back pain. Patients are seen in a pain clinic and can go home the same day. Pain management doctors offer a mix of medication-based treatments and procedures, that can stop the pain at its source. Types of pain treated by a pain management doctor The types of pain treated by a pain management doctor fall into three main groups. The first is pain due to direct tissue injury, such as arthritis. The second type of pain is due to nerve injury or a nervous system disease, such as a stroke. The third type of pain is a mix of tissue and nerve injury, such as back pain. However, pain fall into two major categories namely: acute and chronic pain. Acute pain is a normal response to tissue injury, which starts suddenly and is usually short-lived. Chronic (ongoing) pain persists beyond the normal time of healing and generally lasts for longer than three months. Pain may be anything from a dull ache to a sharp stab, and can range from mild to extreme. Pain may be located in one part of the body or it may be widespread. Studies suggest that a person’s outlook and the way they cope emotionally with long-term (chronic) pain can influence their quality of life.
