In the past five years, Newman has finished outside the top 15 only once in 10 Richmond racesand even that modest result has an explanation. He sustained crash damage in the Crown Royal 400, lost two laps in the process, and finished 20th. That is the only time since the beginning of 2009 that he failed to complete the distance. He has been the king of consistency on this track and in 24 starts he has always been on the track when the checkered flag waved.
Ryan was fastest in Happy Hour. So lets hope now is the time for his luck to change. He already has fast cars, now he just has to avoid the Schmoopy Curse!!!
Ryan should have won the last time they raced at Richmond before spingate. Couple that with RCR (Harvick & Burton) always runs well at Richmond. Could this be the weekend?

Newman 8th and Stewart 25th. Imagine where he would have ended up if he was still at SHR?

I was so disappointed with the 8th place finish. Figured he would have gotten 3rd or 4th before all the late yellows. When Logano spun his tires & totally screwed up ryan, which put him on the outside for the next restart, his chances were gone. Then Logano goes on to win the damn race makes it even worse. I guess I shouldn't be upset with 8th, but I am.
On the bright side. Ryan has had only 4 races where he didn't have some kinda car issue, & all 4 were top tens.

Plus he got some pretty good TV time and comments from the booth too. I have read your complaints about them ignoring him and I started to notice that too. Yesterday they talked about his progress.
I am sure he is much happier than he was a SHR. But the gotta do something about the pit crew at RCR.

Newman looks pretty happy at RCR and it looks like his better fans like the move too.
I figured him for a better finish at Richmond but still not a bad one as it turned out.
