looks like he is a new man under Freddie Roach. Also looks like Sergio needs to take some time away from boxing which at his age means he should probably retire.

What did you think of the Provodnikov - Algieri decision? Algieri sure didn't beat up Provodnikov up with the fancy footwork.

What did you think of the Provodnikov - Algieri decision? actually I kinda liked it. It surprised me that the judges looked at it that way, but I can easily agree with them. I was thinking around the 10th round. You know if this was a well known fighter who had the notoriety of fighting that way, the commentators would be talking up how he was out pointing the slugger. Kinda like Whitaker used to or even Bradley types. I did figure since he was unknown they would ignore his 2 to 1 punches sometimes three to one at times. I mean take away the one bad ass punch in the 1st round & his face wouldn't look as tore up as it did. other than a few punches here or there, I think if the 1st round didn't happen, it would be easier to see that win to a lot of boxing fans. I know I will be in the minority on this one, but think he did win. Just imagine what the score would have been if the 1st round wasn't a 10-7 round against him. I was surprised when late in the Fight Andre Ward thought he was winning the fight. Then when I heard Roach tell his fighter it was too close he needed a KO, my 1st thought it was just talk to get his fighter to try for the KO. But after the fight Roach didn't act surprised at all. & Roach isn't afraid to call BS when he thinks it. Honestly I think some of the fighters that are considered better skilled fighters than the Russian Rocky, will have a harder time with this guy than the hard puncher. GGG would mow him down, but I am being a lil biased now

Speaking of Cotto, seems like Mayweather said Cotto was a much better fighter than Maidana. I have to believe Mayweather probably does have more respect for Cotto's ability than any he has fought the last decade (or 2) Makes me wonder what he could do with Roach in his corner now? I think Cotto is fighting better now than when he was undefeated.

I was thinking that it might come out a draw based on Algieri's superior footwork and style.
So the decision was no big surprise. But I am of that school that still looks at it as the fights and the winner should be the contestant who beats the other up best.

In a boxing ring it is about the sweet science. Otherwise why ever keep points. Just look at the fighters afterwards. he is not a power puncher so the fight would have been over in the 1st round with the street point of view.

I don't think the fight would have been over in the first round because Algeri had the guts to keep fighting. He gets a thumbs up for that. But I would have given the fight to Provodnikov
