I think the punishment was fitting.

The guy that first reported it got off scot free. If it was you that was a witness to that act, would you do nothing except report it later? If I ever see something like that (God forbid) I would beat the tar out of someone.

Of course he'll never coach again(I don't think).

As of about three or four months ago he was head coach at another school, but I don't know if he's still there.

I agree with the penalites except for one part. They should not have taken the wins away. While it is horrible that this went on and everyone it seems turned a blind eye to it there were no recruiting violations that happened and the kids that played those games deserve better. You just cant wipe out those wins for the kids or anyone else, and just because the NCAA says there gone doesn't make it so. Does this also change every schools record that played Penn State in those games? Are they just suppose to pretend that they didn't happen? The games were played, all by legal players, and they don't deserve to just dissappear like they never happened.

I feel kind of bad for any Penn State student who has been busting his butt on the team for the last couple of years with the hope of being a draft choice. The team is now reduced to less than anyone could have expected. I guess what I am saying is that the players take a big hit too when it was the admin. that was wrong. Not much can be done to fix that. Just a shame.

The NCAA felt the need to be politically correct and take action against anything and anybody connected with this incident. They took the Freeh report as Gospel. In their opinion the only way to punish a dead man is to try to diminish his accomplishments. What I don't understand is why take away 122 wins? Why not all if that is the intent. The way I see it, in order to take away the wins, they have to BE wins. So they are indeed wins, they are just not counting some of them to punish Paterno. If their real concern was the college student\athlete they would not taken the wins and erase everything those players accomplished.(Winning a bowl game was the peak for some of those guy's athletic career.) The team did absolutely nothing wrong, nor did the current and future players. To rob them is to go against everything the NCAA says it stands for. A side note: Grambling should be ashamed of themselves for lobbying the NCAA to take away the wins just so Eddie Robinson would be the "The coach with the most wins." in college football history. I don't believe Coach Robinson would want it that way.

I have no issue with the wins being taken away. I don't really see the big deal. The players played those games and won on the field. They had the emotions of the wins. It will not affect their resume. Penn State football was commiting crimes during that whole period. Who knows how recruiting would have been affected had they done what they should have? I have to think that at least one parent would have told their kid that they were not going to a schoold where a coach was screwing little kids.
