Who would you pick as America's top three drivers in the history of racing. It's not an easy question to answer. You don't have to give the reasoning behind your choices, but there is nothing better (to me) than a good bench racing session. My top three it would be (Drum roll please.)
1. Mario Andretti The only driver to win three of the four most prestigious races in the world. (Daytona 500, Indy 500, Grand Prix of Monaco, and Le Mans.) Add to that, a World Championship, and that is a resume that would be very hard to equal. 2. Barney Oldfield The first driver to go over 100 miles an hour on a circle track.(Average speed) And the first driver to ever "Dirt Track" a car. (I guess you could call him the original "Drifter".) All that back in 1903. 3.Mark Donohue The only driver that "Set up" his own cars. He gave Penske his first Indy 500 win, and single handedly killed Can-Am racing with the Porsche 917. (1500 horsepower in an 1800 pound twin turbo dream \ nightmare.) You had to be one hell of a driver just to sit in that car.
These are just my personal choices and there is plenty of room for discussion. So I ask, "Who would be yours?"

I can't say they aren't the cream of the crop. Even the ones that aren't Americans are top of the line drivers. Good choices, excellent drivers.
