This is good news for everyone. Kurt gets another change of scenery (which I think he needs every few years). Petty gets a very good driver. Penske gets a good talent who is likable and who can cross over to race open wheel. Dinger gets a very good ride.

Since I am not a Rusty Wallace fan I have never been interested in Penske success.
But now with Bad Brad and AJ teamed up it will be a lot more interesting for me. I tend to root for the underdog and Brad got so much bad press (that he deserved at the time) that I started to pull for him.
Kurt is a good driver and a miserable person. I liked his JJ feud and him handgrenading the "regulars" in the chase. Will be interesting to see how he does with a B grade team.

So do we know who is going to drive the 43 for RPM and with what sponsor? Just went to their webpage and this is listed from two days ago. Perhaps they were too quick to let AJ go? STATEMENT FROM RICHARD PETTY MOTORSPORTS REGARDING THE RELEASE OF AJ ALLMENDINGER CONCORD, N.C. (Dec. 21, 2011) – “Richard Petty Motorsports has released AJ Allmendinger to pursue other opportunities within the sport,” stated team Chief Executive Officer Brian Moffitt. “AJ is a talented driver whom we all enjoyed working with and we wish him the best.” “Our plan remains to run a two-car team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2012 and we are continuing down that path,” said Moffitt. “We believe there are several very talented drivers who are still available and would embrace the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the legendary No. 43 Ford Fusion. We continue to move forward and are optimistic about the future of this race team.”

Ouch. That doesn't scream confidence. RPM is going to miss the Dinger. A few guys are ready to move up though. A couple Regan/s come to mind. both Ford guys I think.
